Western Cape Government (June 2018 – current)
This project aims to improve water security and resilience in the Western Cape. The EDP provides partnering support for the implementation of the Breede River Environmental Resources Protection Plan (ERPP). The Breede River has been prioritised as it links the Berg and Breede Catchments, has agricultural and economic potential (including tourism). In 2017, the EDP, together with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), initiated a process to better understand the complex nature of water flow quality and quantity in the Breede River Catchment. An extensive actor mapping exercise was undertaken to enable the identification of leverage points in the water system, i.e. where intermediary actors could intervene to improve integrated water management. MCA provided technical assistance to support the systems analyses and actor mapping, workshop facilitation and design, and spatial planning.
