City of Cape Town (2016)

The purpose of this project was to enable climate change adaptation considerations to be incorporated into the 2016/2017 Spatial Development Framework (SDF) review through the identification of the spatial tools needed to adapt to climate change in Cape Town and guidance as to how climate change adaptation could be incorporated into municipal decision-making processes. Outputs included: Review of the City of Cape Town SDF in terms of climate change adaptation; List of spatial information available and/or required for the City to execute decision making; A set of key questions to be considered in municipal land-use, development and spatial decision-making; and recommendations for the SDF to better enable climate change adaptation and a set of high level spatial planning and urban design adaptation options.
